What is the Touring Group?

The Touring Group is an auditioned group of teen players, singers, and dancers who rehearse and perform together from September to May, before embarking on a Spring Tour to share the music they've rehearsed that season.  The program nurtures youth involvement in traditional music and dance, ensuring that young people have opportunities to be inspired and inspiring, to learn and teach, to perform, and to serve the communities they live in and visit.

This year the Touring Group, supported by Artist Leaders Elsie Gawler and Ethan Tischler, will spend a week in April touring New England, after performing at multiple locations around Vermont this spring.  Read more about the group and their trip!

Why Support Touring Group?

Touring Group is not only an opportunity for young musicians, singers, and dancers to hone their craft while building friendships and exploring new places, it’s also a talented musical ensemble. Music connects people and brings joy, enriching communities as it strengthens ties between generations and offers opportunities to share memories and become inspired. The Touring Group cultivates that sense of community and joy wherever it goes.

Touring Group Sponsors support the program's financial accessibility, reducing the per person expense.  Help get us on our way and give us a chance to sing your business/organization’s praises at our Vermont performances, as well as through Vermont Folklife and Young Tradition Vermont’s web and social media presence!

Being part of the Touring Group has had a very large positive impact on my musical skill. It has exposed me to many different cultures and musical styles. And it’s given me opportunities to share my music in ways that build community within the group, within communities, and across cultures.
