Winter Lights: Elissa Johnk

It sure is dark out there. And during this season of long nights and short, short days, VFC staff have connected with Vermonters from a variety of backgrounds to explore how people share light—both literally and metaphorically—during the darkest time of the year.

A candle isn’t any brighter at night. But you can see it and you can appreciate the light that it gives off more more fully in the darkness.

Originally from Iowa, Elissa Johnk is the Lead Minister at the First Congregational Church of Burlington UCC. Over Zoom we asked her how her community is thinking about light right now.
