“VT Untapped” podcast taps into Vermont Folklife Center Archives, Fieldwork

Get excited! In early December the Folklife Center will launch VT Untapped™, its very own podcast. Host Mary Wesley is your guide as you explore Vermont’s people and cultures through the voices of its own residents.

The show draws from both the VFC’s extensive audio archive and our ongoing ethnographic research. Each episode illuminates a different facet of Vermont’s diverse culture, ranging from the world of a Putney drag queen troop, to a lifelong hunter’s unlikely friendship, to a look at traditional music in one of Vermont's newest immigrant communities.

Show host and producer Mary Wesley studied radio production at the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies. She has worked on projects with the VFC since 2010 and came on staff this year in the Education Department. Producer and editor Erica Furgiuele studied theatre and film at Middlebury College. She has been on staff at the Vermont Folklife Center since 2017.

VT Untapped™ is one more way the Vermont Folklife Center works to make Vermonters more visible to one another and build stronger connections between residents of our state.

You can listen to a teaser for the show right here and look for the first full episodes in early December.

Vermont Untapped™ is available on iTunes, Stitcher, Google Play, TuneIn, Spotify or here on our website!
