Vermont Town Schools Project Listening Party
Explore & learn by listening to four individuals’ stories.
What is the relationship between a town and its school?
Join us for a group listening party to hear four short audio stories featuring the voices of Addison County residents who responded to this question as part of the “Vermont Town Schools Project.” A discussion of the Project and how the audio-stories were produced will follow the listening session. All are welcome!
Facilitated by the Vermont Folklife Center (VFC), the Town Schools Project is an effort to create a community-led oral history collection that explores the relationship between small towns and their schools in Addison County. As Vermont’s schooling landscape shifts, this project creates a space for people’s stories and experiences with town schools to be told, recorded, shared, and saved for posterity.
The four audio-stories you’ll hear were created as part of the VFC’s Summer Institute: an educational opportunity providing training in community-based research and interviewing. Come and listen to these unique perspectives on towns and their schools, then learn how to add your own voice to the Collection.
We hope to hear from you! FREE and open to the public.
